Most things aimed at breakouts work by drying you out. You get a spot down faster and a red, tight, flaking patch in exchange, which is not obviously a good trade.
Azelaic acid takes a different route. This ampoule is formulated with 10% of it, sitting second in the ingredient list, to help soothe and calm irritated skin while visibly reducing redness. The brand also credits it with controlling excess oil, unclogging pores and reducing the appearance of blemishes.
Alongside it is madecassoside, the calming fraction derived from centella asiatica, which the brand describes as working on redness and irritation and relieving oxidative stress in dull, tired skin. Hyaluronic acid, allantoin and panthenol handle the moisture side, so it does not leave you tight.
It is described as weightless and non-comedogenic, and it absorbs fast without a sticky residue. It does contain fragrance, so patch test if your skin is reactive.
